At Youth Development Company/PAL, we are a close-knit team that goes above and beyond to create a family feel in our center. Our facilities provide state-of-the-art security throughout, giving our parents complete peace of mind as to the safety of their precious children.


Youth Development Company/PAL is a 25 year old non-profit organization who provides full time and part time opportunities for youth mentoring to school age children during out of school times through homework help, physical activity, creative and fun learning opportunities. We also provide early childhood education to children from infants to 5 years old in a licensed childcare / daycare setting to build the fundamental skills for them to succeed as they embark on their educational journey.

Program Director

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Program Director to join our team. The Program Director will lead the development of the center's curriculum, cultivate a stimulating environment for children, and ensure a high standard of service. Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field from an accredited U.S. institution.

● Minimum of 2  years of experience in a similar position.

PAL Site Supervisor

The successful candidate will work to provide an enriching, stimulating, safe and well-supervised program through coordination with schools, Enrichment Specialists, Resource Coordinators, and Executive Director while supporting the mission of YDC. 

Qualifications and Requirements:

● Must be 21 years of age or older. Have earned a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

● Must have 480 hours of experience working as a caregiver in a program serving school-age children, that meets the requirements of State Licensing. 

● Have completed 15 clock hours, 1 semester hour, or 1.5 CEUs of documented school-age training. 

● Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License.

● Current First Aid/CPR Certification (or within 3 months of employment).

● At least one year of experience working with youth in a classroom, after-school, or recreation environment (can be a combination of all). 

● Strong Math and English skills (K-12). 

● Demonstrated ability to lead/guide staff and youth participants effectively.

● Maintain a high level of communication. 

● Must be able to travel among our centers when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities in the area(s) of individual expertise.

● Identify student needs and communicate with Mentors and Enrichment Specialists, creating plans for improvement.

● Ability to develop and implement staff training.

● Communicate all program information, changes, events, and training using all available resources to parents, staff and peers. 

● Assist Enrichment Specialist in scheduling guest speakers, clinics and excursions relevant to the enrichment program and curriculum. 

● Evaluate the program daily to suggest improvements, needs, student academic and behavior progression, hazards and/or trends.

Mentor

Our Mentors work directly with approximately 10-20 students to provide an enriching, stimulating and well-supervised out-of-school time experience, while acting as a positive role model, and mentor.

Requirements

● Must be at least 16 years of age.

● Must pass the Michigan Child Care Background Check & Fingerprinting and Sports Engine Background Check, as well as negative TB Test Results.

● Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License, Michigan ID (16 and undersigned waiver from parent/guardian).

● Must be able to travel among our centers when needed.High School Diploma or GED preferred (unless currently enrolled in a HS or GED program, with proof of enrollment and timeline of completion).

● Must complete 24 hours of professional development annually.

● Must be willing to obtain Mi-YDA Certification or Credential.Current First Aid/CPR Certification (or within 3 months of employment).

● At least one year of experience working with youth in a classroom, after-school, or recreation environment (can be a combination of all). 

●Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

● Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate activities.

● Serve as a positive role model for youth in the program through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.

● Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth.

● Inspect the classroom at the beginning and end of each session, providing Supervisors with a daily cleaning log.

● Assist in enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents to the Supervisor.

● Maintain student safety by adhering to YDC/PAL policies and procedures.
